Hey guys first of all love the Forum you guys have saved me tens of thousands of dollars over the years...mostly with plumbing, well and septic related help. Jumping right to it one of my rental properties down here in Florida got hit by a tornado last week and it dislodged the electric service mast from the side of the building it does not penetrate the attic it's bolted to the side of the building with brackets and clamps. Everything's intact it's just leaning over electric service is still on I've notified FPL they basically said it could be weeks or months before they get to me but I want to preemptively take care of this. I've got three electricians and none of them are even interested in the job because they're so busy with other jobs. Not to sound cocky but I could fix this in 2 hours... I've already bought all the supplies from Home Depot needed. New 2-in watertight seal for the Box, new 2-in weather head and 2 new brackets. If FPL disconnected the wires I could replace the watertight 2-in connection raise the mast secure it back to the side of the building and install a new Weatherhead top. The wires do not appear to be chafed or damaged... My problem is I've had 10 different people tell me 10 different things.... ranging from this is your responsibility....to this is Fpl's responsibility they will fix it.... to all in between. I understand that you can do owner Builder electrical work but it has to be your primary residence and unfortunately this is a rental for me so I don't think I would qualify. Need some quick advice and quick options! I've got four separate rentals at this property and if they cut the power they will all be displaced indefinitely and I'm just afraid it will take weeks if not months.
