Handles for Symmons washer box

Hi Terry,

See attached photo. The main shut offs to the Summons washer shut off that I need to replace have no handles. I'd prefer to find the proper replacement handles or even a universal, ie, the kind with like 3 or 4 set screws that grab the stem to secure the handle. Any ideas where I could find handles so I don't have to use vice grips?

Measure the distance across the flats. It may be 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, or 11/32-Inch. A digital caliper is the tool of choice, and I think everybody should have one.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-4-Way-Sillcock-Key-16PL0129/304217572 may fit, but with the actual measure, you could probably find a handle/knob where the screw would hold the handle on.. Is that a #10-24 or #8-32 screw? Your switchplates are normally held on with #6-32 screws, so a #8-32 would be a little bigger, but would have the same thread pitch as your outlet/switch plate screws.

Nobody likes "Fit all handles" but these Vice grip cross handles seem to work best in many applications.

Another thought would be radiator handles that come with multiple inserts.
