My neighbor just went from an old oil fueled boiler to a new gas boiler. The old boiler exhaust went out through the chimney. The new exhaust PVC opens out 5’9” from my garage. (These are old homes built in the 1920s before setbacks from the property line were implemented.) Does this exhaust setup follow code? I don’t know if I should be concerned about that exhaust hitting my garage?

If the walkway serves both your place and the neighbor's the location above a walkway might be a code violation, but if it's just theirs, not. Most codes that specify a minimum distance from an adjacent building set it at 48"- looks like you have at least 70"-80", so that's probably not an issue.

It's not a particular hazard to your garage, but if it bugs you asking them to snorkel it up to at least above the eaves of your garage roof would probably be taken gracefully, (especially if you offered to pay for the extension to the exhaust vent.)

If you're concerned about carbon monoxide entering your home, just place one or two CO detectors around the home. One in the room of this window (assume it is the garage) and if there is a door leading into the home from the garage on the inside of the home at the door. Just note that one placed in your garage might false trigger an alarm from the exhaust of your own vehicle. Another location would be if the attic space above this window is closed off, place a CO detector in the attic space since fumes may travel into the space from the soffit vents.

This one has a 10 year battery life. No wiring needed.
