I have a 10”x54” (1.5 cu. ft. resin) 48k Grain Fleck 5600 Economizer Mechanical Meter Dial water softener and a 9”x48” Carbon Backwash Filter with a mechanical timer dial. Here are my settings:

Carbon Backwash Filter
Drain Flow= 4.8 GPM
Timer = Every 4 Days

Water Softener
Brine Flow = .5 GPM
Drain Flow = 2.4 GPM
Water Hardness = 12
Average Daily Usage = 200 Gal/Day
Regen Setting (white dot) = 12
Salt Cam Setting = 12

Do these settings make sense? How can I make the settings most efficient?

I presume that 4.8 gpm is measured. That looks like a nice rate to me. How old is the media? City water?

I think you could set more gallons on the softener.
=====================================
ECONOMINDER System info
salt lb/cuft = 8.0 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
cubic ft resin = 1.50 ; Same as (nominal grains/32,000)
Raw hardness = 12.0 ; including iron etc
Comp factor = 1.08 ; High-hardness compensation factor
H compensated = 12.9 ; Hardness grains after comp factor
Capacity of resin = 36.0 ; capacity in 1000 grains
Gallons total = 2789.5 ; Gallons without considering reserve
Estimated gal/day = 200.0 ; 60 gal per person typical calc
Est days/regen = 13.9 ; presuming days each use reserve capacity

Econominder Settings:
LBS.OF SALT = 12.0 ; Brine cam in back, pounds of salt
White Dot gal x100 = 25.9 ; Pull clear wheel to set

Thanks for the input. It's a brand new system on city water. The 4.8 is written on the label of the valve on the carbon backwash filter as well as the 2.8 GPM on the softener.

In my research, I am seeing that setting the brine cam to 9 will result in better efficiency. Sound right?

9 would give better salt efficiency, but would not get the water quite as soft. Worth a try.

You would move the white dot to 21.5
