The part that HOLDS the 1070291 gasket, in my Kohler canister-flush toilet, broke. I have not been having any success trying to find JUST the piece that broke, as opposed to having to buy the entire flush valve assembly. I need the part pointed to by the arrow in the photo below (from the label on the underside of the tank lid), the thing that goes through the gasket, and then you stick down into the main part and twist to lock it in. Any clues? Or must I buy the whole fershlugginer thing, no matter how wasteful that is? Thanks!

Of course, the universal rule "ask for help and THEN you will find the answer yourself" has proven itself once again. If anybody else finds themselves in a similar situation: there is a repair kit, GP1229656, that has exactly what I need (actually slightly different but serves the same purpose), plus the central tower it goes into, and a chain, available for a good bit less than the whole flush valve assembly. I've ordered it (a knockoff but it gets great reviews, on par with genuine Kohler) off Amazon. If I don't come back to report problems, you can ass-u-me it worked fine. :)
