Hey everyone, I just joined and this looks like a great forum.

I'd like some help/advice on building a whole house chlorine system. I have an Artesian well about 140 feet, I've always had issues with the water, iron 10ppm anyhow , magnesium, a little sulphur, and maybe even some bacteria, as my clear lines turn black inside, it was never used for drinking water. The only thing hooked up right now is water softener with salt. its not doing the job lol.

So i've been researching on what to do and to get good clean water , it looks like a chlorine system is the way to go, I checked with all the plumbers in my area and no one does these systems so I'm kinda on my own and looking for some input.

Here is my plan, I have a submersible in my well so i'll bring the water into the house directly into the pressure tank, from there it will run through an inline chlorinator then into 120 gallon clack retention tank. From the retention into the Carbon media filter then into the water softener then to the rest of the house, hot water tank etc. Thats just the basics there will be gauges, check valves etc installed as well. Does that sound right on how it should be setup?

Here are some questions, in the retention tank is there any type of filter media put in there? or is it just the added chlorine and water. Will that actually take the iron out of my water by settling it to the bottom of the tank or does that water need to be filter before the Carbon filter. When I say carbon filter I'll be running a 1 foot of Catalytic Activated Carbon media.

I'm going to try and have 1ppm or a less down to .5ppm of free chlorine when it leaves the retention tank to go to the carbon filter does that sound right for the amount of free chlorine.

The water softener setup will be pretty standard with 1 foot of resin. I'll also install at some point a RO system at my kitchen sink for drinking water.

Does that sound about right for the setup, the area i'm really not sure about is the retention tank and how to filter out the iron, because the Catalytic Activated Carbon media say not to run anymore then 1ppm of iron through it, so I need to make sure its out.

any help /advice or input /suggestions would be gladly appreciate

Thanks
