We moved into a rental home which has a very nice Bosch dishwasher. It’s whisper quiet and does a great job on the dishes. The problem is that in a couple of days between uses it gives a horrible smell when opened. I pulled out and cleaned the screen and filter, so that’s not causing it. When I pull up the screen there’s always a good amount of water still sitting in the drain well, for lack of a better term.
The dishwasher is right next to the sink, so the hose doesn’t have to go far. The drain hose goes up to the airgap and a hose comes back down to back of the disposer. The problem, I think, is that there’s a good 2’ plus of hose snaked along the back of the cabinet before going up to the airgap. The hose is heavy with water and I think this “backwash” of water that doesn’t drain is fermenting in the hose and drain well, causing the odor.
I know everyone is going to suggest cutting the hose shorter, but then you loose the attaching cuff at the end of the hose. Any suggestions on how to re-terminate it to attach to the airgap?
Thanks for any help.
