So I installed a new sink which has a deep strainer basket. I know I can change out the basket to fix the issue I have but I would like to avoid doing that if possible. The issue is that the tailpiece with the dishwasher connection would sit lower than the p trap connection. Is there any way around this without replacing the strainer basket or opening the wall for the drain?

Did you get this resolved? I had a similar situation and went with a shallower basket, coupled with a dishwasher tailpiece with a higher inlet. I did acquire a dishwasher tailpiece with a very high inlet, but that was after I had swapped the strainer out. The one with the high inlet looks like it would work in your situation.

You may already have a reversible trap. If so, unscrew the U of the trap, and reverse input and output. If your current trap is not reversible, get a reversible trap.

If you run across that again, you might post the brand and model for others.

Maybe it is the one cited in https://terrylove.com/forums/index....granite-top-install.107858/page-2#post-767211 post #24. See other posts on that thread too.
