i should preface this with that I called Toto and they didn't know the answer. On the spec sheet below, it says the space between the tank and wall is a range of 1/2" to 1 1/8". All other spec sheets have one concrete distance. I don't understand this range. I only have an 11.25" rough in and want to really know if I can use this toilet given the space between the tank and wall. TIA.

1. In addition to the dimensions of the toilet, there is some significant adjustability in the installation process. Use 1/4 inch brass closet bolts. The holes in the toilet and the slots in the closet flange give some slop/range where you can control the placement.
2. Your stated objective was to have "least an inch between the tank and wall". That is something I cannot relate to. My objective was to minimize the extending away from the wall consistent with not touching the wall. I suggest that you re-visit your objective.
3. To meet my objective, I installed my Vespin II in a little unusual way. This gave precise control over a big range. But that costs a premium over a Drake etc.
4. You can increase the tank-to-wall space a bit by making the shims nearer the wall a little higher than is needed to prevent rocking. This tilts the toilet slightly.
5. I expect https://www.totousa.com/filemanager_uploads/product_assets/SpecSheet/SS-02050_CST776CE(R)(G).pdf could fit your space, but adding in an objective of 1 inch or more clearance to the wall would call for a different toilet.
