I have a jet pump for a shallow well application (underground cistern) and I am curious where exactly I should install a check. The suction side has a door valve but no check valve on the supply side and I have seen different diagrams of this on both the suction and supply side near the pump. Also sometimes the pump does this fast cycle thing and I was wondering if this would be a potential cause.

A below ground cistern should be treated the same as a shallow well. There needs to be a foot/check valve at the bottom of the drop pipe. No other "door" valve or check valve should be anywhere in the system.
