Can I trust teflon tape and/or dope behind a tile wall

I have a Delta R10000 valve body with 1/2" male connections. I want to use brass adapters to PEX-A on all three connections. Hot/cold/showerhead. What is the most reliable method with heat to secure this connection? Teflon tape and dope together? It's going behind tile and it has to be leak-free.

Any advice on how to make a perfect screw on connection that will last 20 years?

Sorry that was a typo. Basically I'm asking if a threaded connection using tape and dope is as good as a PEX or copper solder connection.

Teflon is great. Some older guys used to use joint compound over the tape, but it is not necessary

I never use PEX, but I did testify against it in a lawsuit.

Yes, but you need sufficient tightening. If you used both tape and dope, you are less likely to leak. But if you tighten enough, using either is quite sufficient. To tighten enough, longer wrenches are helpful if you have the room. Installing the adapters onto the body while the valve is clamped onto your bench vice gives more room to turn wrenches.
