I'm just finishing up (I hope) with the demo phase of my 2nd floor bathroom remodeling project. After ripping out everything down to the wall studs and floor joists, I have found that one of the 1st floor's kitchen's recessed lights, is directly underneath where I want (need) my shower to be. Is this a code violation? I've searched quite a bit and I can't find anything that seems applicable to my situation. For reference, I'm located in rural IA if that helps any.

No it's not a code violation. You might want to put that light circuit on a gfci breaker. But you wouldn't be required.
