Hi, I‘m a DIY guy finishing off my basement bathroom. The main rough in’s were done by the builder in 2022. My initial thoughts on venting is that I would use an AAV under the vanity, but for the heck of it I asked ChatGPT about it. ChatGPT says I do not need to use an AAV. It says all I need to do is remove the cap from the 2” PVC coming from the concrete floor, add a sanitary tee and extend the top of the tee a couple inches and leave the top open in the wall cavity. Is this correct? It doesn’t seem so.
I have the sanitary tee installed but the top PVC pipe/cap is not glued.
Thanks,
Mike
Here is the quote from ChatGPT:
✅ 4. What to do with the vent above the tee
Leave it open, extending vertically, and frame your wall around it.
You do not cap it.
It’s already tied into the home’s vent system above the basement.

Thanks,
Mike
