My very old autotrol 255 with a GE 440i controller setup stopped drawing brine suddenly. Discovered when I checked salt level and the water was up to my backup drain. No settings on the controller draw brine out of my tank. On the "Draw/slow rinse" setting it just continuously adds water to the brine tank.
I learned a few things and ended up cleaning the blue venturi valve until it looked quite good, and the little screen on the other side. Cleaned the clear chamber air check valve with the first rubber ball inside, lubricated the o-ring and ensured it was fastened back on quite securely.
Opened the backwash valve thing (third star-like screw in the back left of the valve assembly) and it wasn't too dirty, put it back including the second little rubber ball that was in there behind that piece.
Cleaned out the brine tank entirely, the draw line has a simple little screen on the end of it that was fine but I still cleaned that and didn't see any obstruction anywhere. Tightened all three connections in the brine line.
Still no luck. What's next?
