We have a gas line that enters into the house upstairs exterior wall corner and runs about 10 feet through the wall, has a tee that stubs to the outside, then continues on along through the wall another 10 feet or so and then back into the room where it was connected. I'm having a plumber disconnect the line outside and cap both ends of the line. The black pipe would be too hard to remove without renovating the wall, so we plan to just leave it in place for now. IS there anything I need to be mindful of the plumber doing to render this length of pipe safe? Like I said it will be completely unhooked from the gas supply, but I didn't know if residual gas might be a problem with it being capped at both ends? He's supposedly certified to work with gas, but I've been short changed by contractors before and I really want no chance of this ever being a problem.

Thanks for any help.
