Hello Folks,

I have a new 4in 200ft well and 85gpm submersible pump installed in it. At pressure tank flow rate with 2in PVC main line is 78GPM. Well feeds both irrigation and house. We use very little house water at the time and one 86gal and another 44 gal pressure tanks keep pump from cycling too often. About to connect the irrigation to it with matching flow so pump runs during entire zone cycle. Any advise on what to do if I want to add much smaller zone for plants raised bed? Uncertain what would be the right direcrion, VFD, CSV or something else? Based on general calculations and recommendations I should have 400gal of pressurised water for adequate pump cycling. I am not putting 4+ tanks on a row. Thanks.

One could tee off another line for your raised beds. Manual valve sending water there.

One could buy a sprinkler timer and install zone solenoids. Pipes and wiring to complete it. Depends on how lazy you want to be.

One could call a professional sprinkler company. Have them install a dream system in your yard. Could cover everything you want. This is money well spent. Will increase your home value. A house with garden hoses is not worth as much as one with a pro irrigation system. This way no money is lost in the future.

CSV is a Cycle Stop Valve. It regulates the pressure by throttling the flow to a point, but not a flow below a minimum. That minimum flow is enough to keep the motor cool, although a flow inducer sleeve might be called for in more cases.

One consequence is that the pressure tank can be smaller.

A most common CSV will not handle the flow OP uses for irrigation and more. There are higher-flow versions available.
