Does anybody have an explanation why the allowable sq footage of roof area served by horizontal storm piping increased significantly from older versions of IPC to 2021 IPC?
They changed the table to use gallons instead of sq ft, but if you do the math, they've increased (at least the couple that I checked) by almost 50%.
They both include (although only required to use with 2021) the equation GPM = R x A x 0.0104. If you do the algebra you'll see the significant increase with 2021.

thanks
