What about before installing?
Its a 12 inch section of pipe I am adding a shut off valve with Barbed fittings each end of pipes cannot be moved I am cutting out section of pipe installing the valve if I measure tight I will have the 2 pipes butting together will a Fernco coupling be strong enough also ideally would be a compression fitting I could slide on 1 side of pipe then slide on center of gap and tighten

This is what it will. Look like when finished if I could get compression fitting to slide on 1 end then slide on other end after install and tighten would have to be able to slide thru fitting. Can't load picture but would, be 1/2 inch gap

No Fernco.

I was thinking of a valve between two unions, but you would need precision in measuring. https://www.supplyhouse.com/True-Union-Ball-Valves-22191000 for example if a good PVC valve is acceptable to your plan. Insert barbs would be screwed into each end.

Better might be a pair of elbows to your valve rather than going for something right in line.

Do you understand that you don't want a valve that can be shut off between your pump and your pressure switch?

Poly pipe needs barb fittings. If there is no room to spread the ends to insert a barb nipple, then go with a union ball valve as reach4 suggests. You can use thread-to-barb fittings into the ball valve and union.

With black poly pipe using insert barbed fittings, the union sounds like a good idea.
Or you can use for 90's and the part with the valve can drop in from the side or at a angle of your choosing.
It wouldn't be a straight line, but the offset means you don't have to pull the ends back.
