Need recommendations for toilet for elderly mother

I've sought help here in the past for my Mom's toilet that occasionally plugged and needed to be snaked (Thanks!) We are now going to convert her shower to a curbless one which will require the tile floor to be redone whether we use a prefab fiberglass shower pan with an integrated slope or get...

Toilet install and flange repair difficult

I found someone who will do it but said I'm responsible to find replacement tiles for any that break in the process. I have no idea whether I will be able to find matching ones even though they are plain white :-(

Toilet install and flange repair difficult

I will find someone to do that. Should I have them pull the other toilets for inspection too? Thanks

Toilet install and flange repair difficult

I have a similar enough problem that I'm not starting a new thread; hope that's okay. We had plumber come in to run a long snake in a toilet drain for which he had to take out the toilet. When putting it back, the bolt came off the flange which was beginning to rust. He then took off the flange...

    Recirculator pump question

New (and hopefully improved) setup with pump driving into WH drain! There is a barely visible valve where the return is emerging from the wall. Should I put a block of wood under the pump to support it?

    Recirculator pump question

I forgot to reply to this but we bought the house new from the builder and none of the houses had an expansion tank at the water heater.

    Recirculator pump question

Good point about the unions but the heater is only about 5 years old. I would have waited but thought I would make the family happy by having hot water on demand, so to speak, and to save water since California is having a drought. I hope I don't regret the impulse, at least not too much. From...

    Recirculator pump question

It is T'ed into the cold supply. We do get hot water everywhere we should; it just takes a while if hot water hasn't been run for a while. My current thinking is to have the plumber drive it into the drain line which is what he said he's done for all his WH installations.

    Recirculator pump question

Sounds good and I will commission that variation (even though he did not say anything about an expansion tank!) Thanks

    Recirculator pump question

Guys, I had a plumber stop by and he confirmed there is no check valve. He suggested the superior solution is to replumb to have the pump push water in through the drain valve but is okay to add a check valve at the top and bleed the system. The way he described the work for the superior...

    Recirculator pump question

No check valves, then. The guy who replaced our hot water heater did not put one in when he re-plumbed the circulator pump :(

    Recirculator pump question

To my untrained eye, it only looks like fittings unless there is one in the pump. What does a check valve look like?

    Recirculator pump question

Not sure what a check valve looks like and we have no expansion tank. Here are some pictures. Return line coming out of the wall near the bottom of the heater and heading up Pipe heads up into the pump and then further up towards the cold water inlet Ties into the cold water inlet

    Recirculator pump question

It sounds like it is turning. I need to look into how to bleed air.

    Recirculator pump question

We've only recently tried using the recirculator pump attached to our ht water heater tank and noticed it didn't seem to be causing hot water to appear at our faucets at the far end of the house any sooner. On taking a closer look, it appears that the pump is attached to a tee near the cold...

    Shower gradually stops delivering water

@WorthFlorida I will try and remember to do that and report back. @John Gayewski Sounds intriguing. Where does the crud pass to? Is there a remedy for a DIYer like myself or that I can pass along to a plumber? Thanks

    Shower gradually stops delivering water

We're having a weird intermittent problem with our Kohler shower. The shower is a Kohler Finial with a Rite-Temp 1/2" pressure-balancing valve K-304-KS-NA. We shower with the handle in the full on position. At times, the shower output will begin to slow down after a few minutes almost to a...

Replacing a Kohler Wellworth in California

Hi guys, Wanted to let you guys know that I got an electrician to add a GFCI receptacle and got Mom a bidet toilet seat (conveniently on sale at Costco!) along with the new grab bars. She is still trying to get accustomed to it. Thanks.

Replacing a Kohler Wellworth in California

I should probably find an electrician's website but will ask any way. It is electrically safe to daisy chain another AC outlet after a GFCI outlet and continue to be protected but does it violate code to do so in a bathroom?
