New (and hopefully improved) setup with pump driving into WH drain! There is a barely visible valve where the return is emerging from the wall. Should I put a block of wood under the pump to support it?

It is T'ed into the cold supply. We do get hot water everywhere we should; it just takes a while if hot water hasn't been run for a while. My current thinking is to have the plumber drive it into the drain line which is what he said he's done for all his WH installations.

No check valves, then. The guy who replaced our hot water heater did not put one in when he re-plumbed the circulator pump :(

To my untrained eye, it only looks like fittings unless there is one in the pump. What does a check valve look like?

Not sure what a check valve looks like and we have no expansion tank. Here are some pictures. Return line coming out of the wall near the bottom of the heater and heading up Pipe heads up into the pump and then further up towards the cold water inlet Ties into the cold water inlet

I should probably find an electrician's website but will ask any way. It is electrically safe to daisy chain another AC outlet after a GFCI outlet and continue to be protected but does it violate code to do so in a bathroom?
