How to Repair Cracked Toilet Overflow Tube

Hi, I have a cracked overflow tube at the top. The rest of the overflow tube is perfectly fine. Does anyone know how to repair this without replacing the whole overflow tub assembly (i.e. without taking the toilet apart)? I have attached a picture of the crack and the water level line. I...

GE Gas Range Broiler & Oven Will Not Ignite

I had the technician over and all he said was that a regulator needed to be installed. I mentioned the stove already had one built in but he said to add another one. Does that make any sense?

GE Gas Range Broiler & Oven Will Not Ignite

Hi, I have a strange problem with my GE gas oven. The oven will not ignite unless a stove-top burner is turned on. If I turn on the bake function, the igniter glows orange, but the gas does not start flowing to it. Once I light a stove top burner, something triggers the gas to start flowing to...

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

Why does it have to be vented? And how do you know I have a clogged mainline? This is the drainage line that is heading straight to the bigger toilet line which goes straight to the sewer. There is also a plumbing stack there. Isn't that where it gets vented?

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

Guys, I solved this problem with a $5 Jim Cap and JB WaterWeld for $13.99. Jim Cap took me 5 minutes to install and JB WaterWeld was installed in 5 minutes as well. All in 10 minutes of work and approximately $20 in supplies. No need to cut out the tee and spend so much money and time with...

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

I have no plans to cut the tee out. The Jim Cap has stopped the leak from the top of the tee. I just now need to stop the drip from the side of the tee where the shower drain goes into it. I just want to put some type of glue/cement/sealant around the joint to stop the drip. There is no...

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

I spoke with the guy at Home Depot and he recommended Flex Seal which is a product that creates a waterproof seal. He said to either take the spray version or the paste version and apply it around the joint when its fully dry. Do you guys agree with this solution?

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

Hey guys, so I got an update. I was able to find a 1 1/2 inch Jim Cap. They are just called flexible pipe caps in Canada. I installed the Jim Cap in 5 minutes and it stopped the overflow/leak immediately. However, it has now caused a new problem. The shower drain going into the tee is now...

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

So do I place this Jim Cap (Flexible Pipe Cap) over the damaged threaded part and then tighten? Is the threaded part in my picture a close nipple? Do you think I can remove that nipple from the tee? Also, can you tell if the tee is made of brass or galvanized steel? What is the nipple made of?

Jim Caps and Dollar Plugs are not available in Canada. I can see them easily available at Home Depot in the US but not in Canada. Can you please provide me with another easy solution.

Cannot thread Cap onto galvanized/iron pipe

Is the threaded area part of the tee or can that be unscrewed from the tee? If the threaded area can be removed from the tee then I would want to install a plug inside the top of the tee. Is that the easier way?
