What Exterior Paint Do You Recommend?

I need to repaint a couple doors and porch columns (white). What do you recommend that isn't oil based? While you're here... what paint would you recommend for metal cellar doors?

Water Softener & Iron Filter Drain Lines - To Sump or Septic?

Yeah, both drains. I don't have them yet but I'm considering the Pentair Iron Reduction System and water softener. The sump pump drains to a ditch between my and my neighbor's property. It's mainly just weeds and cattails. Ohh good to know. Where would you drain each system to?

Water Softener & Iron Filter Drain Lines - To Sump or Septic?

The systems will be installed in a "closet" with the pressure tank. There are no floor drains nearby but the sump pit is about 15' away. There's also a bathroom directly overhead on the floor above. I searched here and the advice seems 50/50. It could be good or bad for the septic system, and...

    Aluminosilicate-based Iron Filter?

Here's the other one I'm considering, Pentair. It's like 3x the cost, but a traditional air-injection type. Which one should I go with?

    Aluminosilicate-based Iron Filter?

I'm trying to decide which system to get for iron removal and came across this one. It uses an aluminosilicate-based media, and I didn't see anything about that type of system on here. Pros? Cons?

Thoughts on the Flexx Oxi-Gen Iron and Sulfur Filter

Why not post it here? I'm interested in air-injection to avoid chemicals, and this one seemed like a good solution to the typical fouling issue. What do you suggest for iron removal?

Thoughts on the Flexx Oxi-Gen Iron and Sulfur Filter

Last year I was searching for an iron filter (and water softener) and the common issue with the air injection style is that the valves get clogged from oxidized iron and need frequent cleaning/servicing. I never ended up picking one and that project got put on hold. I just did another search and...

Mounting Many Big Mirrors to Basement Walls on ICF Foundation?

I'd like to mount six 7'x3' mirrors along a basement wall. I planned to use J-mold for the bottom, and clips along the top. The wall is drywall mounted to ICF, not studs. These are thick mirrors for a gym so I'm concerned about weight. Do all brands of ICF blocks have load-bearing mounting...

    Morton® Clean and Protect™ Plus Rust Defense™

FWIW, citric acid works great for removing iron stains. We moved into a house with well water that has high iron and the dishwasher was pretty gross. I used a dishwasher cleaner, which is just citric acid, and it got it looking almost brand new. I was impressed!

    Sump Pump Surger Protector?

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was just a typcial CYA disclaimer, or if there was a legit reason. I'll look into a whole house surge protector, that's even better. thanks

    Sump Pump Surger Protector?

I bought two of these little single outlet surge protectors, one for the primary sump pump, and one for the battery backup. Upon opening it, I noticed the sticker that says not for use with aquariums or other water-related products. Is there a type of surge protector that can be used with...

Need Help Selecting a Softener & Iron Removal System. Fleck 2510 vs 5900 vs Water-Right Impression?

In small volumes, like a glass or large mixing bowl, it appears clear. However when the tub is filled it looks greenish-blue. The water test showed 0 copper (I was worried about corrosion originally), so what else would cause this color? I measured my well pump flow rate and got the...

Switchable/On-Demand Water Treatment for Exterior Hose? (For Washing Cars)

Switchable/On-Demand Water Treatment for Exterior Hose? (For Washing Cars)

Nope, everything's in the basement. Fancy! I just meant I'm not looking for some crazy commercial car wash style setup, just something "residential". As far as gallons, I have no clue. I've never tried to measure. Probably more than the average person who washes a car. I pre-rinse, then use a...
