    Massive Water Use Increase

if it is a mechanical meter (almost all are) then you can check the numbers on the register (rollers and dials)... are they indicating the same as the bill? if so, then there HAS TO be water flowing through the meter. BUT, like Tuttles Revenge says... it could be from reverse flow. and if it...

Moving Water Meter from Horizontal to Vertical Position

The horizontal requirement for water meters is really only for single-jet or multi-jet meters. It's just how the meter works with a spinning carousel that sort of 'floats' in the flow stream there is no rigid axle. The accuracy will suffer and the meter's internal parts will wear more quickly...

    Air in my water supply?

I have city water, and when I hook up a hose, it seems that the air NEVER stops. Even after running it for 30 minutes, I believe that there is still air bubbles coming through. I have taken steps to completely fill the hose by elevating the output end. But then when I hook up my nozzle and run...

Pipe broke before pressure tank so well pump kept running

I had a pipe break before my pressure tank, therefore the pump kept running for possibly up to 24 hours. when I found the break, the water was a very slow stream, and the pump was still running there was NO water going to the tank therefore the pressure switch never tripped. I turned it off for...

    Preferred fitting types - Fastec

hmmm... I have worked with FasTec and I really like them. Is there a particular reason? or is it just that they haven't caught on in the US? They go together much easier than a sharkbite in my opinion. Yes, I left off pex... I was only thinking copper when I posted - but I guess since Pex is so...

Push-Connect (Shark Bite style) vs Compression or Sweat Solder

It sounds to me like the old valve was improperly removed at some point and it was forced off without retracting the barbs/teeth. That bent the teeth and essentially reversed their direction.

Push-Connect (Shark Bite style) vs Compression or Sweat Solder

I save old frying pans for exactly that use.

    Preferred fitting types - Fastec

Is there a preferred method of connecting pipes and fittings? I am familiar with ProPress, Sweat, NPT threaded, and sharkbite and FasTec. Is there any good reason to choose one over the other? or any reason to stay away from any of them? What is most popular among plumbers here in the US?

Can/Should I install water meter in Single Family well fed system?

I went with brass... I believe that they are exactly the same other than the material. it cost a bit more, but I just felt more comfortable going with metal.

Can/Should I install water meter in Single Family well fed system?

If you want to meter the usage from the well, a good meter to try is the WM-NLC (lead free brass) or WM-PC (plastic) sub-meters from flows.com. They are just like a typical city water meter in residential homes. They are low cost and easy to install. if you want remote reading, there is a pulse...
