Replacing a shower valve body from the back question

So they’re sending a free replacement I’ll give it one more shot. Next time I’ll change out the valve body. And yes, poor design, where part of the valve blocks the shut off stops. I asked a GROHE rep about it, their response was” nope, too thin would make it harder to turn and strip out the slot.

Replacing a shower valve body from the back question

Thanks, I'm trying to shame them into a free replacement, leaking in less than a year? Really Soft water too. They are pushing back wanting a receipt, bought online 2016? Last year they just asked for a picture. I was able to find the emails from last August. Sent those Hoping this works...

Replacing a shower valve body from the back question

Around 2016 I rebuilt my tiled stall shower and installed a Grohe valve body 30015 with cartridge 47678 and a Concetto shower handle. Thought I was done A few years later, the mixing valve started failing, where to have an even hot cold mix, the handle was barely moved. If it was put in the...

Vessel Sink replacing an under mount sink?

Thanks for the replies, the counter I made, precast in the garage, sink openings 11 wide by 18.5 long, cutting this 1 1/4" inch thick Surecrete counter is not an option, I'll see if the partially recessed might work

Vessel Sink replacing an under mount sink?

Simply placing the vessel sinks over the existing openings, not adding a 3rd sink, that is what I am considering. They make vessel sinks with an overflow. Here is a sample

Vessel Sink replacing an under mount sink?

For me they seem too small for shaving or washing face is all, bigger sink area would be better. Maybe I'll buy one and set it down see how it goes

Vessel Sink replacing an under mount sink?

A few years back I built a vanity and a pre-caste concrete counter top with double sinks. First time attempt. I panicked last minute and went with smaller sinks thinking I needed more space for faucets while leaving enough counter in front, I regretted that decision and think the sinks I went...

Any health risks from drinking softened water, or softened water filtered through an RO filter

Reason I'm asking, for the point of use RO under the kitchen sink, I had to use a special faucet that limits leaching metals from the agressive RO filtered water passing through. Some family members developed GERD around around the time these filters were installed. Just wondering if there can...

    RO filter keep or remove

Thank you. That’s very helpful. BTW the recent TDS 288 before RO and 8 out of the tap. Is that good? I had purchased a dual faucet that eliminates the need for a separate tap at the counter. (See photo). Supposed to be specifically designed for aggressive water that prevents leaching of...

    RO filter keep or remove

A couple of years back, I installed an RO point of use under the kitchen sink after installing a whole house softener. Thinking I would remove the salt and chlorine and any other chemicals passed through the municipal water supply. It’s time for a filter change and I have a minor repair issue...

Here we Grohe again, back flow preventer stuck in valve body

I was afraid of scoring or scratching the interior of the valve so I bought a non scratch pic set, it was too flexible and didn't work. I used a right angle metal pick and filed the end flatter so it was less of a sharp point, That worked, thanks. The calcification from the hard water really...

Here we Grohe again, back flow preventer stuck in valve body

Finally got around to replacing the temp/valve cartridge. There are small plastic back-flow devices on the sides, inset into the valve body. The new valve came with replacements, so I tried to remove the old ones, since the years of hard water caused the control valve to fail. Only part of the...

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

Maybe I’m not referring to it correctly, the part to be replaced is the temp control valve/cartridge. 90+% of the control you get hot water only, so a balance of hot/cold your almost shutting the water off They are sending a free replacement but it’s back ordered They also responded about the...

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

Thank you for all the replies. I’m trying to simply replace the valve but wanted to keep all options open. GROHE said they would send a replacement for free, asking for the year and model. I sent the info and haven’t heard back from them yet. The reason it’s important to me to be able to...

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

Holds the trim plate. Of course that model has been discontinued, gee wonder why, bad design and the valve fails at the 6 year mark. At the time of purchase it was highly recommended. I remember researching it before purchasing it. What is a good all around reliable not terribly expensive...

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

Not sure I follow. You mean turn off the whole house water to remove that metal plate to access the stops? Then turn the water back on? If that’s it, still a bad design then

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

Same as in the photo above it, per instructions. I had to open the tile wall more on the sides, was able to angle a screw driver, but still. Poorly engineered. Needs a straight open line to the shut offs. I asked Grohe support, waiting for an answer back.

Shower faucet limited access to shut off on valve?

On my Grohe valve body 35 015, I recently had to bust out the surrounding tile to gain access the the valve body shut offs. Did that, only to find the slotted shut offs are partially blocked by the ears, see photo. The picture is taken from the side, so coming straight in to prevent stripping...
