Lol, I like the Duff example. So, the Rescare gallon says 1/2 cup per cubic foot of resin. I found a chart that shows 1.25 cubic feet of resin for my 1048 tank. So, a little over a cup and half ought to do it, correct?

OK, my Hach pH test kit came in. I have 6.2 at the well and 8.3-8.4 after the neutralizer. My Hach kit only goes to 8.4. I bought this range because I thought it would be most appropriate. I kind of wish I had just a touch higher of a range. Is there any real issue to being in this pH range...

I have a neutralizer. The water is 5gpg at the well and 11gpg after the neutralizer. I will get an iron reading when the materials I ordered arrive. I added the water softener cleaner to the brine well and added citric acid between the two bags of salt that I added this evening.

BTW, Skyjumper, I found some unopened Sears water softener cleaner in my basement. It is a small 20 oz container and it says the ingredients are sodium hydrosulfite and and sodium bisulfite. How does this compare to the citric acid idea?
