    Well Pump Assistance

Thanks @valveman Yeah I know and the main breaker box is mounted on the pump house as well - it was getting late and I was done messing with it. I'll make my way back up there eventually. I had contemplated bypassing that Pumptec unit to see how long I could run the pump for without it - but I...

    Well Pump Assistance

I think it was a Megger MMC850, but I couldn't find it to purchase or a price. The one I bought said muti-conductor, but what it really meant, was multi-conductor with the conductors separated. I don't know why it's so hard for companies to state that - chinese junk I guess - but it works...

    Well Pump Assistance

I'm a dummy. I looked at a few different ammeters a while back and one of them supposedly allowed testing on 2 and 3 conductor cables, but apparently that wasn't the one I ordered. Oh well. I thought that was strange considering it seemed to pump fine until that controller kicked it off. I...

    Well Pump Assistance

Sorry for the long delay. I had other things come up last minute that kept me from coming up to my folk's place until today. Sadly, I forgot my pressure gauge to stick on the end of a hose but managed to remember to bring the GPM gauge. So, with that said, here's what I found: 1. Pressure...

    Well Pump Assistance

Thank you! They just water various plants outside and top off the small koi pond when it needs it. I have an air compressor that fits the bill that I'll take along and pick up a couple of gauges next time I go to town. Thanks again for the info! I'll be sure to check for replies more often...

    Well Pump Assistance

Sorry all for the late reply. I checked my settings on here, but still don't receive notifications via email. Thank you for the replies! When I was out there a couple of weekends ago, I asked my parents if the pressure tank was checked and they said that is what they were told. They have had...

    Well Pump Assistance

I'm trying to help my parents figure out what is going on with their in-ground well pump. The well was drilled in 2003 at a depth of 55-68 feet (water-bearing) and 6 inches in diameter. Depth to water shows 45 feet after the well was completed. The well records show that it has an estimated...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Numbers got me again. kWh...I read that number as that, but it isn't that...oops. Good call! Glad the numbers are good though. Going from a couple of watts to over 1K watts had me concerned a bit. These are the MICTUNING branded meters. Got them on Amazon. The ones on the generator are...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Alright, I went out and made some adjustments yesterday. I found the sheet that shows how to make the adjustments and whatnot-I overlooked it. It seems to be running much better, but more testing to be done. The pressure is holding at 50 PSI and cutting off at 60 within about 1 minute after...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Thanks all! I just noticed this. I don't know why I don't get email notifications when there are replies. I'll get back out there tomorrow or Monday to double-check everything and make some adjustments after getting another gauge to test against. I can see it taking a bit longer if the...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Thanks, @valveman! Much appreciated! I saw your message and got right to work when I got home. Everything is up and running! The instructions say that a 10-gallon tank should take about 1 minute and 15 seconds to refill. I timed it a few times yesterday and it is taking about 2 minutes and...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Good morning all! I am working on getting the CSV system installed! I hooked up an ammeter to see what the draw is on startup and running - 3 watts on startup and settles at about 2.83 watts until it shuts down. In the week it's been installed, only 0.001 Wh has been recorded. So very little...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Water indeed comes from the well but where that water flows from (before the submersible pump) is what I'd like to know. There is a water association out here that has a very large storage tank that feeds 25 houses. Oddly enough, their mainline runs through my property, but we don't have...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Well, I just finished reading the letters from various manufacturers and articles regarding energy consumption being less because of the way the system operates. Very interesting. I'm going to purchase an ammeter to put out there to monitor everything. I've been wanting to do that anyhow. We...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

@valveman, Thank you very much for the info! It is the LittleFuse PumpSaver 233P-1.5, which looks like it can be calibrated to detect dry-run or dead-head (currently disconnected--see below). Your diagrams are quite interesting. I kind of wonder why they didn't tie in the submersible pump to...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

I'm sold! I'll return the other pressure tanks to HD. Looking at the picture I posted, what CSV system do I need? The pump has the pressure switch integrated into a line coming off the side of the pump. While I understand I can isolate the tank, that is going to have to be something for the...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

Thank you for the visual. I'll look into a bottom float switch. Definitely not how the system is set up here. Over time I may look into a submersible pump. We'll see how this current pump works out. The pump saver is for the jet pump only. There isn't one for the well pump, although, now...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

The time we've been here, nothing has grown in the tank. I just checked it a couple of weeks ago and clear as day. It is probably time to run another test on it though. I thought about isolating the tank, but, in the event the electricity goes out (which happens a few times a year), I can...

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

That's interesting. It's not even tied together electrically. The float just activates the in-ground pump.

Can Pressure tanks be installed above a jet pump?

The old well was only producing about 5 GPM if I recall. That was when the cistern was installed. The new well drilled about 5 or 6 years ago was calculated at 15 GPM. This all predates us. We bought the place 3 years ago.
