    Keep losing prime or pressure

That’s good information to have. changing out of pipe is probably something we’ll do in the future. Does pex a come in 1 1/4 I’ve only ever seen it used indoor.

    Keep losing prime or pressure

All the beach area is covered in clay and rock. It would be very hard to dig or bury anything. We currently run heat lines in the line we have now. Even with the heat lines we get freezing depending on the year and water level. But I will look into the drain back system you mentioned

    Keep losing prime or pressure

It would be very hard for use dip deep enough and long enough to make it worth while. It would be easy to move the pump house closer to the water. And perfect I will look into getting a gauge so I can monitor everything closely. And yea I’m fighting with that deep freeze plus I don’t think...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

It depends on the year and how high the water gets. But yes some years the lake freezes from the top of the lake to the bottom where our line runs. During that time we run a gas pump and fill a storage tanks under the house from a deeper part of the lake. It’s a lot of work And ok so a...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

thanks guys this is all very helpful information. I will need to do a lot more problem solving to get this sorted out. We use to have a submersible pump quite some time ago. I technically live on reserve land so I don’t believe it would be an issue. The real issue I see with a submersible...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

So that’s very good to know. So I’m assuming getting a stronger pump would help with my situation a lot?

    Keep losing prime or pressure

I did try doing a pressure test at the beginning, but I will do it again as that’s the best option I see right now. And I believe there is about 25-35 feet of drop but the line we have going out to the lake is very long. 150+ feet. I’m just using the pump that was already here. Would a week...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

so it turns out it’s not a check valve at all. It’s just a small piece of black pvc pipe. I have no idea why it was there. This system was all out of sorts when I started and it just keeps getting worse Anyways I removed it and put a solid piece of tubing there. So I guess I’m back to square...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Ok that’s good to know. Once I have the chance I will move it and confirm if it’s a check valve.

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Yes just one line going into the lake. And I’m not positive at the moment but I think it may be a check valve

    Keep losing prime or pressure

So I shouldn’t add one to help for now? And is there anything you can recommend to find where this air is getting in from? I tried the shaving cream but had no luck? And I have added photos of the pump I’m using. I didn’t buy it it was already here when I moved back…

Just from the information I’ve seen online.. is this incorrect? I’m mechanically inclined but I am new to plumbing

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Hey everyone sorry for the late update. I tried the shaving cream thing but i didnt see anything. Maybe I did it wrong… So I just tightened everything and changed some of the hose clamps. But today I got really low water pressure, when I turned off the pump and cracked the fill port air came...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Alright I will do that today. And I’ll take some photos too and yes the only check valve is the foot valve.

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Hey again, so after removing any extra connections and tightening all the other ones, i still lost my pressure this morning. so it really looks like i still have a suction leak and air is getting in and building at the top of the pressure tank. How can I find this suction leak? Is there...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Ok so that makes sense with what I see happening. So I’m still pretty new to this system. What should my pressure tank be at with zero water pressure? And by cut in pressure you would mean the lower of the 40/60 psi. So when it hits the 40psi my pressure tank should have 35ish psi ??

    Keep losing prime or pressure

I did do a pressure test like that about two months ago and I didn’t see any pressure lost. But I will try again and see if anything changes. I will also minimize my connections and tighten the rest. Thanks for the suggestion, I will give an update in a few days

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Sorry chucky you’re correct. It wasn’t you. But yes the pump does reach 60psi and shuts off automatically. And the suction pipe is not losing pressure at the foot valve as it would take way longer to prime afterwards. It only takes enough to fill the pump housing to get it going again.

    Keep losing prime or pressure

Hey everyone thanks for the great advice so far. And yes chucky you are correct I only have the foot valve and no other check valves. The other brass fitting is a second ball valve for no apparent reason. ( my uncle added it ) I know I need to get rid of this and minimize connections I was...

    Keep losing prime or pressure

No other check values. And there is a forked pipe at the top of the pump you open to prime. You can it in the photo. It’s the silver one
