Pipes banging when kids started bathtub

Ok that works It sounded horrible and I had visions of the pipe breaking in the wall and ruining the house. But like I said, haven't been able to replicate

Pipes banging when kids started bathtub

Ok thanks This is a single lever where you turn it and it starts cold and then the more you turn it left the warmer it gets I guess I will just monitor it and fingers crossed

Pipes banging when kids started bathtub

Live in a 20yr old new construction. Last night when my daughter started the bathtub upstairs there was a pretty loud banging noise from the pipes - at least 2 bangs per second. She was oblivious but I was downstairs in the kitchen freakin out. She turned it off and then turned it on...

I believe mine is the latter

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

Yes BUT I'm not sure how those valves work in practice in terms of actual temp vs just 'banding' a relative temp from the heater output What I'm trying to say is that the valve has 1 thru 7 on it let's say where 7 is Max. At Max I believe it basically just is wide open so whatever temp your...

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

Interesting I guess I never thought of it like that but yeah I guess if you had a slow steady trickle of cold that kept the burner kicking on then maybe it would overcompensate and end up heating the water more and overshoot. I guess I will just watch it I was trying to dial it into a nice...

    Best tankless?

I was close to buying a Navien and then changed direction and glad I did. Yes it is 199,000 btus. You need a lot of fire to try to raise the temps that much in a short amount of time in the heat exchanger. If your cold input is extra cold that just makes it even harder. These units are...

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

I guess I will watch it some more and see if it keeps allowing a wide range.

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

Hmmm that is interesting. Why would the tank change that much though. I'm not talking about changes while running a tank. I'm talking about a tank sitting basically full and lightly used...why would it only go to 120-125 for a while and then one day it goes up to almost 140.

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

I do but it is gravity fed and doesn't seem to work very well (the pipes are never more than luke warm)

    Best tankless?

Don't understand why the distance of the shower makes it that she uses up all the hot water? Or are you saying that the water isn't really hot by the time it makes it all the way down there? You could turn up the temp on the tank

Bradford White new unit not holding consistent temp

As the title says, my new BW 75 gal gas Powervent has much more variability in temps than I think it should? Started on the Middle setting which should have been around 120 and found it was more like 135. Turned down to the next line and it came down over time to like 115. Trying to get...

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

I just didn't know if the piping was stepped down sizewise going into the water heater or out of it while maybe the cold water is larger diameter piping within the house. I am not home now but will take a look when I get home.

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

So yesterday I ran some tests to fill my big tub and found some interesting things. I also got to take a hot bath as a reward haha First, I figured out that my Hot fills at 6.5gpm while my Cold fills at 10gpm. Is this normal or is the lower fill rate on the hot water heater coming from the...

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

So very interesting. My wife used that big tub again tonight and said "did you do something to the water heater? It was much hotter tonight and didn't run cool while I was filling the tub like last night". I had turned it up a little but not that much...maybe from 120 to 125. Surprised it...

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

Interesting ideas Given that this tub gets used only a couple times a year it's hard for me to want to invest lots of money just for it

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

This calculator is fine but doesn't really highlight the effect I am noting.....the very quick influx of cold water that will cool down the whole tank within mere minutes at a strong pullout rate of like 8-10 gpm. Unfortunately I think the only option is to start with a higher tank temperature...

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

Ok thanks Is there a material difference between running at 120 and 130? What I struggle with is that Jacuzzi tub gets used like twice a year on average, so it feels dumb to run the tank hot 365 days a year just in case. I guess I could tell the wife to give me a heads up if she wants to...

New 75 Gal - Not Good For The Big Tub

As I noted in earlier posts, I replaced 2x 50gal gas heaters with a new single 75 Wife just used the big tub for the first time and said the water got cool quickly. I had measured it as about 65 gal (total water, not just hot) needed to fill to typical level we use (don't use it much!) For...

    Hot Water Heater

It's interesting that the longer warranty ones in some cases don't even bother to add the second anode rod, and if everything is truly the same otherwise (maybe a brass drain but that shouldn't lengthen the life of the tank per se) then all that is happening is the customer is effectively paying...
