  • Hi Dittohead, I am having a problem with a Kinetico Premier Series Q850 OD XP water softener. It will not regenerate. I tried to manually regenerate it and it doesn't engage when I use a screwdriver. It doesn't click anymore. It just spins and doesn't initiate a cycle. From reading your posts I gather that you have a exploded parts list that would be helpful. Thanks.
I'm hoping you might give a PM recommendation for a water softener. Our well water tested at 111 mg/L for hardness and .026 mg/L for Iron, pH 6.7. Flow rate is about 6.5 and mainline is 3/4". Only two living in the house in NW Wisconsin and am having trouble finding a dealer in the area for Fleck or Clack. Have found softeners online (Amazon, etc.) but are they okay? Will be able to install myself. Thanks!

Hi ditttohead - I'm planning to install a water softening and filtering system in my house but am choking on the prices being quoted by the few non-big box store dealers here in Hawaii. Best quote so far is $4K for a Fleck 5600 SXT and 1.5 cuft backwash carbon filter. That doesn't include install. Can you recommend a source on Oahu, or a reputable online source? I have a plumber to do the install. Thanks much!
I was hoping you might have some insight into an issue I have. I have a customer who has a Fleck 5800 system to deal with iron in their water. From what I know, it has improved their water. This issue is that they wish to remodel their bathroom, and don't want to have to work to keep a white or almond tube clean. Is their a color that will hide iron better than others?
I am looking for a referral if that is possible of a plumber who can install the fleck system. A PM will work if that is the way to do it.
I live in Lake Forest, Orange County, CA
Hardness of water is 17, Iron is minimum as water comes from colorado river. I live in Lake forest, CA.
I am looking to install a softener using a plumber. Cannot decide between a GE or a Fleck 5600 or 5810 system. 2 persons in 4 bedroom 4 bath house,2500 sqft. No yard
I saw you are an expert on the 5800LXT Fleck system. I am lost and could use your help. I'm trying to configure what "salt amount" and "hardness" to input. My water tested at 101 mg/L hardness and I have a 1.5 resin tank (54 inch high). When I select hardness, it only ranges 3-200. I know hardness goes much higher than that. Could that be in GPG? Any help will be much appreciated!

Thank you for your help in my thread. Is there a specific online store you could recommend me to buy the fleck 5600sxt from?
DH, we used to be your neighbor in Claremont. Great place to be, but, so is the hill ten miles out of a small Texas town where my wife and I retired to---population of the entire county is under 14,000. Nearest neighbor is over half-a-mile down the unpaved county road.
would love to see your thoughts on my post from today. You seem to have all the info!
Pentair 5800 LXT. I had a "friend" sell me the unit for my house and he made it sound so easy. I had a handyman install the unit, but he had no idea about how to program or even start the damned thing after installation. The manual is for people that actually know what they're doing and don't need step by step directions. I'm going crazy trying to find out information on the internet, nothing so far.
The filter sumps on that unit arequestionable at best. I would recommend a USA made sump, the import sumps have been very problematic these past few years. I would know, we import nearly 500,000 per year, and the quality is not so good to say the least.

I will have a USA made system available in a few weeks, the price should be similar to that price, but done with high end components. Call me in 2-3 weeks to discuss further. 951-801-9621
