Hi I'm new to plumbing so be kind. I'm trying to get my put less adapter connected in ground. My issue is it's not engaging within the well casing. I had a plumber come out and take the original part and threw it out. The part he brought out to replace the one he threw out and now I'm not sure if it fits. I can line everything up inside the casing but it just won't snap in. I have attached pictures of what I'm looking at. If anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it

Got to be straight, up, down, left, and right. Sometimes when you push the lever the flexible pipe lets it bend downwards. Not my favorite pitless and only seen one before, but I hear from lots who have them.

So essentially it's gotta be lined up just so for it to engage?
