Depending on whether it has ever worked properly it may not be fixable. It depends on how the drain and the washing machine drain are piped. If they are arranged in such a manner that emptying the washer creates a slight back pressure in the line and the floor drain is close enough that the back pressure fills the floor drain and it overflows, then you will either have to live with it or put a built in check valve into the floor drain opening.

: When the washing machine empties, it causes the floor drain which is adjacent to it to overflow. We have had a plumber check out the sewer system and he has made several changes, but has not been able to prevent this from happening, do you have any suggestions?
