:1. See Terry Love's post about what type of fitting are you taping. Anything which uses any type of rubber seal or any compression ring, the tape will CAUSE the leak.

2. If it is a tapered pipe thread requiring sealant, 4 wraps is too many. Two times around is plenty.


3. The number one cause of leaks on plastic threaded fittings is OVERTIGHTENING. Per the plastic pipe council, a fitting should be tightened by hand, and then 1/2 turn by wrench. If necessary, a maximum of one additional HALF turn may be applied. Anything beyond that will probably damage the threads and may cause the fitting to crack.
