I don't get the full picture yet; but 1. you certainly cannot connect to a vent stack below the new fixture. 2. your friend may be referring to an air admittance valve ; although allowed by SOME code (check locally) no one on this forum will even talk about them in a civilized tone because they are mechanical and can therfore fail with catastrophic results. |
