: Thanks guys. I dried up the water a few hours ago and I haven't seen anymore since. Hopefully it is OK. I guess when it is leaking the water would be coming out continuously. Reply: Correct, if the tank itself was leaking it would be a continuous puddle/stream of water near the base of the water heater. I have seen cases when a water heater is depleted completely of hot water and condensation will form a small puddle next to the base of the tank, similar to starting to boil a pot of cold water with a lid on it. Keep your eye on it. ...If it turns out to be the tank leaking, check the model and serial numbers with a local distributor to see if it's under warranty. e-plumber
