Good advice from e-plumber. While it is likely he used primerless cement, don't assume he did. The reason primer is purple is so inspectors can tell primer was used. But, some of the newer cements don't require it, but you need to be certain. We could say, yeah, don't worry about it, blah, blah, but it's not our plumbing that has to pass inspection and hold together. And, sure even without primer it would most likely hold a drain together just fine, but why worry about it when you can require verification.
