The ADA requires that the handle be on the side of the tank away from the closest wall. When the near wall, (which is 18" from the center of the toilet), is on the left side, then the toilet has to have a right handle lever. The toilet usually costs about $10-$15 additional.

: This web-site has been extremely helpful to me. Thank-you, Terry. I've narrowed my choice down to the Toto Drake or the Ultra-Max. They both come with the option of Sani-Gloss. Does anyone have any experience with Sani-Gloss? How much does it help? Is it worth the money? Does it help more with preventing stains, or preventing bacteria build-up?

: Also, the Drake offers an option of a right-hand trip lever that I like. I'm surprised more toilets don't offer that. Does anyone know why? Are there any drawbacks to it? Thank you for your help.
