Thanks, Clayton. By now I have tried all kinds of stuff. Piano wire, guitar e-strings and whatever I could get. No luck. The putty or whatever is underneath has been applied liberally so it glues the complete rim to the top of the tile. And it's hard like a 30 year old piece of chewing gum.

I was able to wedge about 10 inches of this stuff out but only where the tile happens to be lower. It took three solid hours and I broke two spatulas. So I am now thinking of gutting the whole vanity and wall tiles and remodel. That is kind of sad because these are beautiful Mexcian tile. But I may not have a choice.
