|In response to Re: Drain odor or dw itself? Pls read|
: We just remodeled our kitchen and got a new dishwasher (1st time). Ever time we use it, a smelly odor appears in the undersink cabinets soon after the cycle is complete--esp in the morning since I run it at night. It was noticeable before the countertops and sink were installed--coming from around the dw and now it's even worse. The odor is only coming from the cabinets holding the plumbing for the sink and dw--not inside dw or coming thru sink drains. I have no idea what could be causing it. Any ideas or suggestions? Will post more info if needed. Thanx!
: UPDATE: Well, my husband is the one who installed the dishwasher--but keep in mind he is mechanically inclined and can fix/repair, etc. just about anything. So he double-checked everything and looked over the pic/diagram for 1st time dw installer and swears everything he did is there. However, the odor is still there. It doesn't come thru the drains on the sink nor from inside the dw--just in the cabinets that house the pipes. One thing I do know is that he put a small hole in the cap covering one of the pipes as the air vent? Would that be something???He must be overlooking something so any other suggestions are welcome. I'm at the point where calling a specialist is inevitable. He wants to disconnect the dw and put it outside overnight(BUGS!!!) to see if the smell goes away, but I don't think so. It's probably a simple duh thing, but we've pretty much exhausted our options.
I'm with Clayton on this one. Before I removed the dw or did anything else, I would seal that hole he put in the cap of one of the pipes. I'm betting that you will smell a difference.
