:No argument about using quality; but we do have a problem in this area. There are NO basements. ALl houses are on slab. So in replacing a shower pan, there is no option to use a pipe-thread connection to the pipe. Pipe is almost always ABS, so it is possible to use a solvent weld drain fitting. When doing a mortar bed and tile job, then there are more options.
