Hi everyone: A week ago or so I asked some questions regarding fixing the cast iron drain for my toilet. After reading the answers from this site, I decided it was a job for a pro. I'm so glad I went that direction. The plumber was able to save all the cast iron pipe, replacing only the flange, and re-sealing the join in the basement. This was a repair I couldn't possibly have done myself, as I simply don't have the tools or knowledge to work with lead. While we were at it, we decided to replace the old toilet (original 1964 high flow) with a Toto Drake. So far, we're very happy. Thanks to all who responded to my posts! -A little poorer, but with a working toilet, in Michigan |
