I'm not an expert in Canadian codes, but in most US code areas, the requirement would be to use 2" P-trap, all 2" pipe, and a sanitary tee to make the connection to the vertical vent/drain. The trap weir (the "hump" where the water leaves the trap) must be lower than the top of the "fork" in the connection to the vent. A sanitary tee makes this possible whereas a wye doesn't. A straight tee ("vent tee") doesn't have any built-in curve to direct the flow downward--the water under pressure will slam into the opposite wall of the pipe and splash around, which significantly reduces the rate at which the drain can accept the ejected water from the washer. With a proper installation you should have no more problems.
