He will not give you a quote because there are unknowns that could occur during the revision. If he were to give you a "fixed price" it would have to include the possibility of these unknowns occurring even if they did not which could, and would, increase the price tremendously. If you trust him to do a good job at a reasonable price then have him do it, realizing that unless he gives a "not to exceed" price it could even go over the #300,000 mark. If you want a fixed price then contact several other plumbers and see what kind of numbers they come up with.
: My condo has 26 units, which has 9 kitchen stacks and 8 soil stacks. We currently have a plumber in chicago that will not give us a definite quote, but guesses that it would cost between 200,000 and 300,000 dollars to replace. The building was built in 1920 and is three stories high with 4 teirs. Can you tell me if this price is somewhat reasonable or is it way off the mark.
