| In response to Re: How do you adjust a toilet flapper w/float? | |

If you remove it you will not get any flush at all. The lower it is on the chain the longer the flush will be. I usually throw them away and use a conventional flapper without the float. : I have a Kohler 1.6 toilet which had phantom flush, so I got a new flapper which has a little float on the chain and clipped it on. The toilet no longer leaks, but when you flush, the flapper only opens for a second and then clamps down very quickly with a jerking motion. I gather you can adjust the float on the chain, but my question is "HOW?". Do I make it put the float higher or lower on the chain--or should I just remove the float entirely? I have spent two days trying to find out what was wrong and to get the right part--and I am sooooooo frustrated! Thanks!
