I had installed a new Crane wall mounted (1.6 gal/flush) toilet 5 months ago. A slow leak has begun from the tank into the bowl on one side. The flapper looks to be in good condition, but I am puzzled by the round styrofoam ball which is attached to the flapper chain. It is adjustable up and down on the chain. What is this for? None of my other flappers were attached to a float. If the ball is moved lower, will this increase the pull on the flapper and make it more likely to leak? I can't find a replacement flapper for this assembly, but Crane has cheerfully offered to send a free replacement.
