: I am finishing a basement in a 10 year old home with plumbing already roughed in by builder. There is the toilet drain and two vent pipes but there is a 14 x 14 inch hole in the concrete floor that was filled with styrofoam. I removed this to find a 2.5 inch DWV stub running parallel with the floor (capped) about 12+ inches deep from floor level. To install my bath will I need to put a trap on this or could there be one in the concrete already? How do I tell? This is the way I always rough in tubs and showers on slab. Your p-trap placement really needs to be exact, so I never install the p-trap until I am ready to install the tub or shower. Deb The Pipewench
