Yes, if for no other reason that it has the metal band around the outside to stabilize the pipes and prevent them from shifting out of alignment which can happen with the Fernco. In this area, and depending on the location of the pipe, it may be the only accepted way.
: : You did not have the proper Mission coupling. You needed one for sch. 40 PVC to cast iron, either extra heavy cast iron or Service weight, depending on which you have.
: Thanks, hj. I suspect you are right. The one I had was probably for the extra heavy, and I've got the service weight, as it is actually smaller in diameter than the PVC.
: I have two additional questions, if you don't mind: 1) Is this a substantially better solution than the Fernco? 2) Is this code approved (UPC)?
