He couldn't legally install a san tee if it was going to be inspected, and you should not have used one either. The pipes should be cut square and the inserted piece should fit tightly to the existing pipe. A Fernco is also not the proper/legal coupling to use either.

: I had to reach in and make a fairly not-square cut on the upstream pipe, so even if I butt them up there will still be about a 1/2" gap (on the bottom, of course). Given that, would it pay to chop out that nice glued coupling and add a downsteam Fernco?
