: I want to install a bathtub on a cement basement floor. The drain pipe is 2" and goes directly into the floor. How can I install the tub right on the cement fllor and catch the drain? Common sense tells me that I must bust up and remove the cement and make a path from where the drain comes out of the tub and go deep enough for a "P" trap. Is this correct? or is there another way? Thanks

You also need to vent the tub. The vent must go between the p-trap and the connection to the main drain. Your local code will dictate the maximum the vent can be from the p-trap. The vent needs to run out through the roof by itself or join with another vent 6" above the flood rim level of the highest fixture that vent serves.
