In response to Re: Main Line Cleaning
: I was looking to use one of the sulfuric acid-based main line cleaners in my very old system. On the warning label it stated that since it dissolves all organic material you need to be careful since organic material may be sealing leaks that you want to stay sealed.

: I know I have at least a couple of small cracks in my clay line. Is there really a risk of opening up all kinds of new leaks using one of these products?

: Thanks

I think most plumbers would like to see this type of product outlawed.
Not only does it not remove clogs, it leaves caustic nasty stuff in the drain lines for the plumber that ultimately has to deal with the clog, it can damage augering equipment, and as you have learned, it can actually cause your pipes to leak.
