shower door with opening above or not

We are putting a shower in our basement that will have a shower head on the right wall as you walk in and 3 body jets on the left as you walk in. The doorway you walk thru will have a glass hinged door. There is going to be a 9 inch 'overhang' above the door that drops down from the ceiling level. Should the door have a gap between the top of the door and the bottom of that overhang or can it go to the surface so when the door is closed it is almost like being in a box (little gap for steam to escape). Also, it is tile surface. Should There be a fan inside or a vent to let the steam out? What is a good setup for that? The shower is 4ft by 4ft and will have 10gal per minute of water from the jets.
