|In response to Re: gas in well|
: Our water stinks. It is worse with snow, and cold. It has air in it constantly. I am sure it is probably methane gas. It smells kind of sewer like, I've noticed it sinks to the floor. What will help, and how safe is this?
Methane is odorless. But you could have some H2S with it. I've treated methane that caused 'air' in the line so bad lines shook and toilet fill valves had trouble while you could hear water sloushing in the 3/4" copper tubing.
I used an indoor aeration system with a blower or it that vented outside. The tank is about 15010 gallons and allowed the water to be sprayed into it and there is a submersible pump in it to repressurize the water for the building.
